THIS IS ME:
Charcoal Self Portrait
1.) During this lesson I mastered the technique of shape and value. I did this by creating a self portrait.
2.)I created this pice using Willow charcoal was to create a starting point for my piece and it also let me devide the paper into 16 sections, compressed charcoal was used to finish the piece by making all of my choices permanent, and white chalk for the letters and the eye part that is around the puple
3.) The big Idea to my pice is simplistic words that define who I am as a person.
4.) My goal for this project was to determine the Elements and Principals of design. I did this by creating this artwork.
5.)at the start I was struggling with value and shading then I got support and completed it. If I would do this next time I would have my reference picture have more shadows and light so I could have an even more challenge.

JUST AROUND THE RIVER BEND:
Oil Pastel Landscape
1. This is a landscape of mountains in the background , and a river flowing between two pices of land in the mid ground, and two hills in the foreground
2. For this project i used Oil pastels. The method i used was color overlapping, and light placement on the trees
3. This piece was inspired by PBS's original sow Bob Ross: The Joy of painting
4. My goal as an artist is to do things outside of our comfort zone. This artwork did not help me with my goal because I am already skilled in oil pastel and land cape artwork. This piece may not have helped me with my contently growing goal, but it was fun to create
5. In the middle of this piece i was not enjoying working on this piece, this was because of a snowy mountains effect I could not pull off. During this project I learned the rule of thirds and how people observe art using the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds will definitely affect my art in the future.

Beautiful Life:
Complementary Colored Pencil
1. This art work depicts a light with a butterfly that flied through it
2. I decided to use several layers of color in places like the crack and butterflies wings.
3. This art piece is men't to show beauty and symbolize the butterfly braking free.
4. My goal as an artist is to try new things. This project helped me to try to achieve my goal by doing something new with colored pencils, the new thin is layering. although I didn't do a lot of it in this piece. Now i under stand it I will start implementing it in other art works.
5. The way this piece ended out was not something I expected. At the start of the project I had a whole different idea planed, but it quickly changed. This art will change my art work in the future. This is because I learned a lot about color during this project

Emotion Are In The Eyes:
Pencil
1. This artwork depicts three different emotions only through the eyes.In this piece I really practiced the lesson of "drawing what I see".
2. While creating this piece I was practicing shades and the use of negative space. I did this by using various types of pencils instead of the average HB #2 pencil.
3. I was inspired to do this art piece in this style because of a influencing artiest named Zach Hsieh. The three emotions that I depicted was anger, shocked, and excitement.
4. My goals as an artiest is to always improve. This project helped me with my ever lasting goal because I guided myself through this project alone and I continued to practice on realistic images.
5. Something I learned doing this piece is the impotence of wrinkles on a face. I did not expect for it to turn out like this. I first tried to use paint, then colored pencil but couldn't get the wanted color.

Open The Mind
Watercolor Paint
1:my piece depicts and symbolizes "the power of the mind". During this development process I mastered watercolor painting.
2: I used many different water cooler techniques. I used water to give it texture, splattered wet paint for the stars, and , various other different types of technics
3: The idea of why pice was tooken from a sketch in my sketch book that was meant to be practice for the perportions of a human head, but as I was sketching it I got out of hand and at the end of my sketch I decided to paint it for this project. Because of the brightly covered and powerful I the piece gives it a emotion of joy and power.
4:my goals as an artist this year has always been to step out of my comfort zone and constantly improve. This project did help me to reach my continuous goal. This is because for an extended period of time I have stayed away from water color but this project forced me to go back to this form of art.
5: Something I learned while created this piece is while working with water color paint I need to do it with layers and be very patient while painting or else the paper will get incredibly damp and start to fold up slowly.

Life depiction on Tempra Batik
Art by:Julie Dunn
1: painting process
The good and pretty and great of one's life. Nothing could possibly go wrong... Right?
2: black layer
Your life sudenty tumbles into a what seems to be the worst time of your life. Wether it is because you lost some one that meant the world to you or your mental state has been crushed.
3: Water Wash
You eventually get better, but not everything will ever be the same you will always now have those woonds, this "Dark Spots" but you don't let that define you. Instead you live on and take your tough times as a learning lesson.

I chose this spasific pice by Julie Dunn because it shows that even though it has been drinced in black, the beautiful colors can still blossom. This related to my simbolic meaning of this lesson in the most literal way possible.
Tree of Wisdom:
Tempra Batik
1:This piece is of a old tree with a mountain view on the background. This project obviously use of the batik method using black Indian ink.
2:The materials I used was both tempra paint and Indian ink to paint this. The techniques I implemented in this piece is the meaning of color and the intense use of layering,
3: this art piece was heavy inspired by Disney's Pocahontas. This is because In that movie the main character talks to a tree named the tree of life.
4:My goal as an artist always been to improve and step outside of my comfort zone. This project definitely made me step outside of my comfort zone, however I cou have made a better improvement in the layering.
5:I learned the importance of layering. The final look of this project was unexpected this is because of the look of the lake and sky and how the black ink obsorbed the paint and color. This piece will influence my prices in the future because I now now the importance of layering, not just for creating a Tempra Batik but for any future coloring processes.
